Nevada’s Big Give Coming Soon!

On April 25th, Nevadans will come together for 24 hours of online giving. From 12 am-11:59 pm, you will have the opportunity to give where you live on one central website www.nvbiggive.org. Find your favorite charitable cause or discover a new cause to support with a secure, online donation, as little as $10. The top nonprofits that receive donations from the greatest number of unique donors will receive bonus cash prizes.

Nevada Opera, the oldest professional performing arts organization and the only professional opera company in Nevada. has produced more than 185 operas, operettas, and musicals over the last 45 seasons.

Nevada Opera’s mission is to produce opera of the highest professional quality in Nevada and throughout the Eastern Sierra Nevada region for the enrichment and entertainment of our community, and to offer outstanding educational and outreach programs to students and performance opportunities to emerging artists.

Opera is the most expensive art form to produce. Ticket sales cover only about one-third of our productions and our community service. Your contribution will help us continue this wonderful mix of story and song.

NVO Day at the Reno Aces Ball Park

 “NVO Day at the Ball Park” will be a fundraiser with our madrigal group “Il Nome” performing the National Anthem, and opera goers sitting together in a reserved section.  For $15 opera fans can donate to NVO and get a ticket to the Ball Park.  Please contact Ticketleap with a $15 donation and we’ll give you a ticket to the game with special section seating for that evening.  Our cut-off date is Monday, April 28th so hurry!

Great Gatsby Gala at the National Automobile Museum

Nevada Opera is excited to present its first annual “Great Gatsby Gala at the National Automobile Museum” event on Saturday, May 31, 2014, 5:30 – 8:30 pm.  This fun-filled evening will include a concert by the ever popular “P’Opera!” show-chorus, under the direction of Jon Fay, with musical numbers including Cole Porter and George Gershwin.  Additional festivities will include lovely hors d’oeuvres with a “Speakeasy” cash bar, dancing, a silent auction, and access to the car museum to view the cars.  Guests are encouraged to dress in 20’s and 30’s attire as part of the ambience.  A photographer will be on hand for those guests desiring a photograph of themselves by a vintage car!  So, for $55 per ticket you can “throw Prohibition behind” and join the frivolities.

So please mark your calendars for May 31st, 5:30 – 8:30 pm to have an entertaining evening of great music, delicious appetizers and drink surrounded by amazing automotive treasures of our past in support of the Nevada Opera!

Save the Date: P’Opera to perform at the National Auto Museum

Nevada Opera will be hosting a 1920′s themed cocktail party at the National Automobile Museum featuring our extremely talented and fun chorus, “P’opera”, singing many memorable and fantastic tunes from the 20′s and 30′s era.  Attending in period attire is highly encouraged and would surely add to the atmosphere and experience!
