Ted and Deena Puffer

In 1968, when Ted and Deena Puffer started the Nevada Opera, they had no idea whether their grand experiment in Reno would work out or not. Year after year, they staged great opera and trained young singers who went on to sing around the world. They also produced incredible operas that no other companies our size would ever dare consider. Nevada Opera staged the American premieres of Busoni's Dr. Faust and Tchaikovsky's Joan of Arc decades before they were performed in New York or San Francisco. Nevada Opera even commissioned an opera for its 25th Anniversary: Mark Me Twain.

Our dedication to critical editions (music researched and updated by scholars to represent the composer's original intentions) is unique among companies our size as well. Nevada Opera audiences have always received a great return on their investment. Make sure to be a part of our grand 40th Anniversary tour of the amazing world of opera.
