Linda Saxton brings more than 35 years of musical experience to the new NV Opera Youth Program. She received her education at the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific. Creating successful programs from scratch began with the founding of the Creative Center in Tahoe City which was a non-profit program involving all of the arts, developed Step to the Music, a music based program designed to enhance both academic and musical skills. For 15 years she has directed Tahoe's Divas and Dudes and Reno's En Harmony, vocal ensembles that have performed throughout the Sierra Basin.
The combination of music therapy and education led her to keynote Conferences at both the local and state levels in Kentucky, facilitate workshops for the Natl. Montessori and Waldorf Schools as well as teaching music in Marin County, Tahoe City and Reno with populations ranging from 4 years through adults. With over 20 years of performing, she specializes in vocal coaching, directing, and teaching piano and guitar. She has created several productions A Hop Through History and Broadway Bits; was musical director for Music Man, Carnival, Broadway Bits and Godspell and has produced and written two children's CDs.
