Nevada Opera's two productions of Ghost at Sarah Winnemucca (photos above) and the Discovery Museum (below) had overflow crowds. The casting was changed so that many Youth Program students had an opportunity for solo roles. NVO stalwart Stephen Meyer was the 'ghost'.

The Great Grey Ghost of Old Spook Lane is about a youong girl, Kelly who is new in town. The kids at school tell her about a haunted house and dare her to go in. Kelly feels she has to do it to get “in” with the gang. So on a rainy night they all meet and push her in through a window. The lights go on. The house isn’t empty. An elderly man lives there quietly. He used to be a sound effects man back in radio daysand he has all the equipment in the basement. They play a trick on the kids and invite them back for dinner. The house is filled with scary sound effects as the “Ghost” serves his “Ghostly Repast” of evil eye soup, phantom pie, etc. Everyone is scared except brave Kelly.

The kids learn a lesson about accepting new people and Kelly learns there are limits to what you should do to be accepted.
